[Rin is stressed, and you know the best way to deal with stress? Mindless work!
Since he's about to talk to a sword, Rin will be in the dojo taking care of his own sword. It did get compared to wounds today, so he'll be taking his time cleaning it and making sure the blade is sharp and in one piece and everything. He seems really focused on making sure there's no cracks at all in it. Hmm.
But he looks up when he hears someone else approach, and he'll wave.]
In truth, neither of them exist - but one has learned before the other. Dear comrades as they are, they are both of myth and legend. Folktale. In the course of history, there is no true place for them.
Even still, they are in front of you. Beloved - oh how dearly you love them so.
You take Iwatooshi to witness his master’s version of kindness. You watch him carefully, and adoringly. Even with the bloody scene in front of you - so famous that it has been adapted into countless plays - there is nothing but boundless fondness in your heart.
Humanity, and these feelings, are so full of surprise indeed.
As the two leave - you reflect.
Countless times, these struggles repeat. Countless times, you have witnessed this very same exchange.
Countless more, you will watch your comrades grow and grow. And come and go. ]
But no really, Rin is surprised to see something like this. He had known Mikazuki was kind, but this is an unexpected level of kindness here. To care for someone so much, but to deliver horrible news kindly instead of hiding it...what an interesting person.
"We repeatedly make mistakes and take detours. That's how we grow." That's a positive way to view a story like this, at least. But Rin does have one question on his mind:]
So they were able to keep existing, even if they didn't 'exist'?
[Somehow, for him at least, that's the most important part of it all.]
[Rin is around, but he's so upset right now that he doesn't even give Mikazuki a proper greeting. He just walks over to wherever Mikazuki is and plops down next to him. Hi jiji, today sucked.]
[Rin is. Doing awfully honestly. He's going to be sticking to his room for now. But he's got the door open for visitors if they want to see him, because even if he's being reclusive tonight he doesn't actually want to be alone.
When he sees Mikazuki he'll sit up on his bed, but he winces and holds his head as he sits up. Hua Cheng got him good at trial.]
...hey.
[Rin's room description btw:
Rin's room is structured like a dorm room. He's got a neat cubby-bed with a roll-down screen which is currently a mess of pillow and blankets since he doesn't make his bed. The standing wood closet at the back of the room is mostly-empty right now, since Rin's dirty clothes are in a pile on the ground nearby, waiting for a chance for him to do laundry. On his plain desk is a stack of shoujo manga he got from the library, as well as a couple dirty plates and cups. There is also a blue bean bag chair on the floor, which looks like its normally a bed for a small wolverine given how much hair is on it but it's currently unoccupied.
The most notable feature, however, is that the room is just like a dorm room. Meaning there is a second set of everything, mirrored in setup to how Rin's side is set up. This side is completely lacking in anything personal though: no clothes, no bedding, nothing. In fact, it looks like it's been left largely untouched, with Rin keeping everything on his side of the room.]
[it'S VILLAGE TIME. we can be anywhere in the village right now but they WILL end up in the garden
but first mikazuki is. dressed in his lune robes. he's having a great time. they are just pitch black robes that cover all of his body, but the hood is embroidered with a moon on the sides (see icon). it is also carefully brought up to cover his face, hiding it in shadow.
when he sees rin, he gives one elegant wave.
he doesn't speak yet bc sometimes there's the fun of surprise]
[When Rin goes looking for Mikazuki on Sunday, he's still looking emotionally compromised from that execution. But there's another big, obviously noticeable change from how Rin usually appears: he doesn't have his sword with him.
When he sees Mikazuki, he nods his head to the side, as if to say 'come over here?' He looks a little tense, but he's standing around with his hands in his pockets.]
[mikazuki will glance briefly to where the sword used to be, before nodding once and immediately wandering closer.]
What weighs on your shoulders, Rin Okumura?
[he's not like.
dense.
he's not surprise hua cheng's execution weighs heavily on those who were from his experience, but it seems better to let rin put it all into his own words]
[alright rin now that we're all back and everyone's partying
where are you kiddo, jiji will catch his eye with a small wave. he won't approach outright considering their last conversation, but he doesn't seem averse in the slightest]
[Rin will most likely be in the kitchen cooking, because that's both a stress reliever and his way of showing people he cares. When he sees Jiji he does offer a little smile in return, not quite as big as the ones he normally gives but definitely a sign that he wouldn't mind the company. His hands are full at the moment but he'll nod his head in his direction, come on over Jiji.]

”A priest who tells lies, is like the walker’s cicada. Rather hard to find, right?”
As with all things, it begins with a lie. A beloved two: Iwatooshi and Imanotsurugi.
In truth, neither of them exist - but one has learned before the other. Dear comrades as they are, they are both of myth and legend. Folktale. In the course of history, there is no true place for them.
