What you said before, about how people- especially older and long-lived people- should act better. How they shouldn't act in anger and instead should think through what they do first.
[He's stating that part for context for what he's about to say.]
I think it's a good ideal to shoot for. If everyone thinks through what they do before they do it, then we'll have less fights and people might get along more. And everyone can try to be a better person, I think. Just trying is enough to make things better sometimes.
But people are always gonna be themselves. Expecting everyone to set their emotions aside and think logically all the time, that's not gonna work. Nobody can do that. Even the calmest, most rational people act outta anger sometimes. And you know, that's what makes us 'people'. If everyone put their emotions to the side all the time and acted in the best way possible in every situation, then we wouldn't be ourselves anymore.
So as much as it sucks to watch people make bad choices because they're emotional in the moment, even when you're trying to warn them not to do it- [Lord does he understand THAT part of it. As much as he loves Hua Cheng, the man is impossible to reason with sometimes.] -I think I understand why it happens. And I think that, even if it hurts sometimes, that makes the world better than being 'ideal' all the time. Besides, you can't really say you 'understand someone' if all they ever show you is a smile and good acts, yeah? You gotta know all of them to really understand them. Even their bad sides.
...that doesn't excuse any bad behavior of course. When it's all said and done, if someone hurts someone else they gotta apologize and make things right once they've cooled off. But I get why people do it.

...you know, I've been thinking about the stuff you told me before.
