Baggy clothes are fine and all, but they can catch on things, and it doesn't keep you as warm. Close fits can look sharp, but then when you're mobile, the material either stretches out and looks bad or you can't move at all very well.
So the right fit is one where you can move about and not have to worry about what your clothes are doing at all. And sometimes that's dependent more on material than cut.

That's what tailors are for. They make sure that the suit fits as it should, in the places it should after the template's been made.
