Week 2, post-trial

[He hasn't directly talked to Yukio since their fight on Thursday night. But a couple of days is enough for Rin to be calm enough to talk, at least. Maybe.

He's not looking forward to it. Yukio holds onto his anger way longer than Rin does. But it needs to be done.

So Rin heads towards Yukio's room, carrying a bowl of soup. It's Ojiya, the soup from their sick days as children. It's...not quite as good as the Ojiya from home, but Rin made due with what he had.

After a moment of hesitation, he shifts the bowl to one hand to knock on the door.]

[reflash]

[He wants to be angry. He is angry, the sort of thing that sticks to the back of his throat, that makes him want to slam the door in Rin's face.

It's not one thing, it's not a dozen things, it's everything coming out all at once and he hates it, hates Rin, hates himself most of all.]

Nii-san. [He wants to slam the door in Rin's face.

He doesn't.]

[aono]

[He can guess that's what Yukio wants to do.]

I won't keep you long, I just wanted to make sure you got food. I brought soup?

[Clearly stated intentions and a promise to not linger is a good start, right?]

[reflash]

[He hates this. He hates that Rin is standing there with soup, being nice, trying to fix things.]

Thank you. [He takes the soup.]

Are you all right? [That wasn't an easy trial.]

[aono]

I guess, yeah. I was kinda mad you got voted for, but it was probably just one vote in the end, yeah?

[He answers because Yukio asks, but he's hesitant in his words. Like he's waiting for the other shoe to drop.]

[reflash]

Probably. [He's apparently made someone angry with him, enough to vote for him for a crime that he wasn't even linked to. And there are two murderers who got away with it.

It's been a long day.]

Who did you vote for?

[aono]

Suigetsu.

[He can be honest about that vote at least.]

...probably for a bad reason. Of the others from that clue, they either couldn't or wouldn't have killed like that.

Xie Lian was out because of the adventure he went on, they didn't get back until after the murders happened. Tsuru is a swordsman and would've killed them quickly and on land, not all of this. He's very...honorable, I guess? He wouldn't set up a trap like that to murder. Nero was injured and would not have been able to do everything on the water without severely hurting himself too. Spike...

[He hesitates here, because this is Spike's business, not his.]

...he's a vampire, and I'm connected to him this week. I can feel his hunger, it's practically overpowering. If he had killed, there's no way he wouldn't have drained them dry to eat. And if he'd done that, I would have known.

So that left Suigetsu. And I voted for him.

[reflash]

I did as well. [It's... not a surprise, but it's a relief, hearing Rin say that name.]

There were no good suspects, but once Spike cleared his name Suigetsu was the only reasonable option that fit that particular clue.

[aono]

Yeah, that's about what it is.

...Yukio, he's- Spike needs people. He's a lot like me, you know? Caught between a lot of stuff and he- he needs someone in his corner. He feels alone and angry all the time.

[reflash]

[Punching Rin again won't accomplish anything.]

And you think he won't kill anyone because he has you in his corner?

[aono]

Well no, but like, it might help remove some of the motivation? There's always a chance anyone here could murder, but it's better to find ways to make people not want to do it, right? We don't need anymore Qi Rongs here.

[reflash]

I didn't say it was a bad idea.

[aono]

But...?

[Come on Yukio, he knows you. There's definitely a 'but' there.]

[reflash]

But feeling sorry for someone doesn't mean they won't kill, even if you befriend them.

[aono]

...guess not, no.

[He doesn't have it in him to argue. He's supposed to be making up for the fight, arguing won't help.]

[reflash]

[making up for the fight sounds impossible, hasn't even crossed Yukio's mind.]
