[The warning growls from Rinkou are getting louder. But this is a "I'm hurting and I don't know what to do" kind of warning growl, rather than a threatening one.]
I- I just wanted to spend some time as brothers! Geez! You're the one who got mad about it!
[Well. He was going to yell some more about wanting to understand, and how they're brothers and they should be working together. But the moment he grabs for Yukio again, his hands are going to go hot because of fire magic this week. And while it's probably not hot enough to hurt Yukio, it's going to feel hot! Hotter than a human should feel.]
[Miki's whines are a growl as Rin grabs at Yukio again, pitching up into a sudden screaming yelp as she lunges towards Rinkou in a sudden rush.
The heat is familiar, is expected, he doesn't think we don't have powers here, he just thinks Satan's flames in the rush of movement, steps out to knock Rin's feet out from under him, reaches up with his right hand to grab Rin's wrists.
Yukio's hand isn't quite hot enough to burn, but it's much hotter than a human's skin should be.]
[Rinkou, transformed to a wolverine, is quick to get on the defensive. She's poised and ready to body-block Miki as Miki rushes at her, and this will be a tangle of claws and fangs.
Rin, meanwhile, is quickly snapped out of the rage that had been building, because Yukio's hands are hot and they shouldn't be. He yelps and tries to pull away, both because of Yukio's hands and the sudden realization of just how hot his own hands are too.
"Don't hurt him" is his first thought. As angry as he is, he doesn't want to hurt Yukio. Not like this, not with his fire.]
[Rin's still going to the floor, Yukio's throwing him before he has a chance to really process that Rin's trying to pull back. But he doesn't follow, doesn't throw another punch. He's too busy stepping back, staring at his hand.
Rinkou's larger than Miki, has a few inches and pounds on her, but that doesn't stop Miki from snapping and biting, still caught up in the fight. Her fur flickers with blue flames.]
[Similarly, Rinkou's fur is accented with blue flames flickering about. Just enough to look intimidating, but it's not going to burn anyone.
Rin is on the ground, but he doesn't even complain. He just sits up and stares at his own hands in horror for a moment, thoughts of "what did I do?" and "did I hurt him?" filling him with dread and regret.]
Are-
[His voice cracks as he tries to speak, and the 'are you okay?' dies in his throat. When he finally looks up to Yukio, it's with a look that Yukio might be familiar with: guilt, regret, fear.
[Yukio barely hears Rin, because all he can see is the flicker of blue on Miki's fur as she pulls back, still snarling. There's a flicker of blue across his hand as well, as he stares at it.]
This-- this isn't possible.
[He looks up at Rin, and there's just fear in his expression.]
[If Rin took a moment to remember the weeky effect, or to at least stop and think "Yukio's hands were warm too", then maybe he could stop them both from spiraling. But he doesn't think of that, because he's worked up and angry and upset and his head is a mess right now. He sees the blue flames on Yukio and thinks he is the one responsible for them.]
Yukio, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-
[Fast apologies in a panicked voice. This is a Rin who is horrified by what he thinks he did. He can't stand to see that look of fear on Yukio's face, nor the thought that he might be the one causing it.
And he's pushing himself up to his feet so he can reach for Yukio's hands in an effort to check and make sure he didn't hurt Yukio.]
[Yukio isn't thinking clearly either, there's too much stress in his head, too many things to think about, not enough sleep, a low-grade headache that's been chasing him all week, he's fighting with his brother again because every single time they talk to each other they both miss what the other's trying to say.
There's blue, flickering over his skin.]
It's not-- [Rin takes his hand. The fire is barely warm but it's there, coming from Yukio.]
It's not you.
[This can't be happening. Not here, not now, not ever.]
[So Yukio is testing something. Okay, yeah, that's good. It means Yukio has thought of something, that there might be another explanation.
Rin takes his sword off of his shoulder and holds it in his hands. There is a moment of hesitation and he glances at Yukio, but he finally draws his sword.
[Even if it's not Satan, that doesn't change the fact that for a moment there Rin really did almost burn his own brother. With that panic gone, self-loathing has settled in, making Rin draw in on himself and become far less outgoing. The only reason he hasn't run away is that he wouldn't get far without Rinkou.]
Rin knows that Yukio means physically there, and that there's deep-seated problems with their talks. But somehow those words are still a comfort to Rin, and they make him sigh and relax slightly.

But here he is, looking scared at what's happening. Scared in a way like he knows what's happening and can't stop it.
