Huh? Okay?

[So Yukio is testing something. Okay, yeah, that's good. It means Yukio has thought of something, that there might be another explanation.

Rin takes his sword off of his shoulder and holds it in his hands. There is a moment of hesitation and he glances at Yukio, but he finally draws his sword.

Nothing happens.</small]

[reflash]

[Nothing happens.

Nothing happens so that means...]

Your flame is still sealed.

[Calm down, think it through.]

So this can't really be the blue flames.

But there's fire, how is there fire if it's not the blue flames?

[reflash]

I don't know. [But it isn't Satan's flames. Yukio can breathe again.

The blue flames fade, flickering out.]

But it isn't him.

[Even if it's not Satan, that doesn't change the fact that for a moment there Rin really did almost burn his own brother. With that panic gone, self-loathing has settled in, making Rin draw in on himself and become far less outgoing. The only reason he hasn't run away is that he wouldn't get far without Rinkou.]

["I'm sorry."

But those words are difficult to say.]

It's fine. [Says Yukio, quietly as he tries to pull himself together, shove the fear down and away.]

You didn't hurt me.

[Miki doesn't look fine. Miki is back to cowering, ears flat out to the sides, tail tucked, body tense and curved.]

Rin knows that Yukio means physically there, and that there's deep-seated problems with their talks. But somehow those words are still a comfort to Rin, and they make him sigh and relax slightly.

He didn't hurt Yukio. It's okay.]

Yeah, okay. I'll just...be more careful.

Is there anything else you wanted to talk about? [He says, which really means "we're done here".]

[Well, that tone's familiar.]

Nah. I'll just head out now.
