[Rin has Rinkou tucked under one arm like a football and is carrying a plate of food in the other.

He's going to walk right in and plop down next to Kaeya. Rinkou gets set down by Polaris before Rin speaks.]

Hungry?

[ football........ im crying maple.

polaris takes to rinkou easily, leaning over to sniff her a few times before giving her head a few gentle licks. ]

I could eat. What do we have?

[ he pulls down a couple of pillows to prop themselves up on. ]

[Rinkou is smaller but she will try to return the licks. Friendship grooming!

Rin will show off the plate to Kaeya once he's settled on a pillow.]

It's bao! I learned how to make it while I was in the Ghost City.

[ yeah!!!! polaris will be flopped with her, content to just vibe quietly after all of that.

Oh, they look very good... did Hua Cheng teach you?

Him and the chefs in Ghost City, yeah. He likes spicy food so I figured out how to make them super-spicy, but these are just normal ones.

[He seems eager to share the food he cooks though. But he was like that before too, so it's nothing new.]

[ kaeya chuckles and will definitely pick up one of the bao. he isn't wearing his gloves, so there are burns visible along his hands, and little nicks here and there. as he eats there's a moment of silence and then— ]

... Oh, it's very good, Rin. [ he smiles a little ] Just the thing after a day like today.

[Hearing the praise for his cooking seems to reinvigorate something in Rin.]

I'm glad. Trials are hard and I know I'm not the most helpful with them, but at least I can keep everyone fed, yeah?

[He's trying not to show it too much, but he's feeling a bit down at the reminder of how brutal the trials are. Getting called out for being dumb didn't help much either.]

but kaeya pauses in his eating to very lightly take his free, empty hand and to pinch rin's cheek very softly. ]

[He is pinched! And he pulls back and rubs at his cheek. It didn't actually hurt much, but you know.]

I didn't say I wasn't helpful at all, just not very helpful. Everyone else was already on their way to figuring it out, I just did one check to help.
