Week 1, post-trial

[Rin is! Carrying food! It's nothing special, just some corn that has been warmed up and put into a bowl. Also he's using the weekly effect to keep the bowl warm as he runs around looking for Akira.]

Oi, Akira!

[Where might he be?]

[ Rin won't actually have to look terribly far but he does need to look up! Akira is hanging out on one of the roofs of the dilapidated buildings, hood up like the broody delinquent he is.

He debates not answering, but after a moment: ]

What.

[aono]

[Wow! That's a familiar sight! Usually it's Rin up on the roof like a broody delinquent though.]

Why're you up there?

[Ask a stupid question...]

[bloodread]

[ Dripping with sarcasm. ]

I like the view.

[aono]

Oh.

[Is he taking that as a legit answer? Who knows! But now he's trying to balance the bowl of corn in one hand while trying to scale the building with his other.

...give him a moment, it's slow going. And he's cursing as he goes too.]

[ Akira stares during all of this but does not move away. ]

You do this often?

[aono]

Often enough.

[Somehow he manages to slowly climb up without spilling any corn. It's a Christmas miracle (in October).

Soon he's seated on the roof next to Akira.]

...guess the view up here is okay, yeah.

[bloodread]

[ There's a glance as Rin settles in, Akira completely ignoring both his words and feat in not spilling any corn. ]

What do you want.

Dad always said that, when you get in a fight, you have to go back and try to make things right later.

[This is probably a preamble to an apology of some sort, but Rin hasn't gotten there yet.]

week 3 after trial; jail

[ Akira comes by late into the evening, though not too too late. Nagako is in wolf form at his side. ]

...you answered my question after the votes. But I said we'd talk later, so I'm here.

[aono]

[Rin gives a tired wave.]

I guess I can answer any follow-up questions? But uh, like I said, I don't remember most of what happened. And I don't think you wanna talk to 'him' either, he's dangerous.

[bloodread]

I've probably dealt with worse.

[ Looks at cyoa and laughs. Akira pauses though, and sighs. ]

How close were you to Tsuru?

[aono]

Close enough to trust him with Kurikara. I don't let just anyone touch my soul, you know.

[Since THAT whole part is out now.]

[bloodread]

[ Akira nods. ]

I'd say he was friendly with everyone, but. [ Tsuru throwing sure did happen. ]

[aono]

[Tsuru throwing sure did happen.]

...I...that night, when he died. When 'he' killed him. He wasn't even mad. He just looked relieved to see me.

[bloodread]

[ Akira looks away at that. ]

Do you think he trusted you?

[aono]

I don't know. I'm sure they fought, there was fire everywhere and Tsuru's scabbard was all scuffed up. But he seemed relieved to see me, at the end.

I guess I'll be able to ask him, when I get wherever the dead go here. But then again maybe not, who knows what happens to demons.

week 7, monday evening

[bloodread]

[ Wherever Rin is, Akira will poke by later in the evening. ]

I thought Tsuru would have told you about his role. I didn't figure it out until later that you had no idea.

[aono]

No, he didn't. I'm sure he had his reasons for it.

[Namely how Rin keeps finding reasons to blame himself for what happened and he keeps reliving the trauma of that night.]

Or if he did, he told the demon in me and not me. But 'he' hasn't mentioned any of that to me.

[bloodread]

He only told me cause we were bonded to each other that week.

[ You ever can't stand someone and then realize you same hat in the oddest directions deep down? ]

And he was pretty careful, he gave his clues to different people each week. But when he died, I thought someone killed him cause they figured out his role.

[aono]

[Oh. That explains a few things.]

That's why you accused me at the trial, isn't it? You thought I killed him because of his role?

[He's not mad or sad about this, it's more of a revelation, like "ohhhhh, that's why he did that!"]

I would've done that either way, but yeah.

[ His and Tsuru's relationship is complicated but in the end, Akira is still ride or die. ]

[Complicated relationships are the best.

But yeah, Rin understands it.]

I don't actually know what happened between the two of them. Tsuru and I were talking about my sword, and then it broke in two, and then I was in darkness. Then me and the demon in my heart argued for a bit and fought over who got control of my body. He's really strong and he didn't give up at all, I had to beat him into the ground before I got control back. But by then...

[He shakes his head.]

It was just...fire and death everywhere.

[bloodread]

[ Akira just sighs. ]

Yeah, it was just fucked. [ ... ] I don't have a problem with you and I didn't after, cause you got voted for and had to pay some kinda price for what you did. That's more than Monika had to deal with, or even Susato until she got taken out. [ He knew about those too. ]

[aono]

I still wish I had died instead of Yukio.

[Just. Saying that now.]

Everyone I love dies because of me. If that's my punishment for being a fuckup, then I'd rather just die now and get it over with.
