Power is there, lying in a mess of guts and blood, amidst the carcass of something monstrous -- the Bat Devil, well over at least three meters tall in its prime, now cut apart into pathetic shreds. She's got a dirty, blood-covered cage in her arms, containing a cat who mrrows quietly at her as she wakes. She's being held up by someone -- a young boy with shaggy blond hair. That new kid that the Bureau had just picked up... and the kid she had tricked into coming into the middle of nowhere with her, full intention to let the Bat Devil eat him in order to get back her cat.
'...Why did you save me...? I even tried to kill you...' she says, quietly, her entire body stiff and immobile. If it were up to her, if a devil or human or anything else betrayed her like that, she would have no problems in leaving them to die. The boy, though, just turns his nose up initially, before pointing to her chest and making a grabby motion.
Oh... right. This human and his strange wishes, and the reason he believed her and agreed to help to begin with.
'That's a pretty dumb reason...' she replies. It's not so much a scoff -- she doesn't have enough mobility nor strength for that. But she can, at least on the rare occasion, recognise when deeds are worth their merit. She'd never apologised to anyone before in her life, but just this once, she feels it's deserved. After all, he'd just saved her and her cat's lives.
'I'm sorry for lying to you.' The boy simply looks back at her. 'You saved Meowy...'
Whatever else she was saying, and whatever else happened after, it all fades away into a mixture of static and haze, like a dream, and they're back hanging around the canal.
...Power kicks her legs a little, where they hang over the water. ]
People have already done that! Listen, people can get their powers back, how should I know?! I thought you might turn into a bigger devil-demon thingy like Denji!
Something like that, I guess? I just learned about all of this a few months ago. I mean, I always knew Dad had adopted me, but I didn't know I came from a demon.
