I think you have the right idea, Rin. Let us hate these horrible trials, but do what we can to understand one another.

I'm gonna try something, to reach out to the killers next week. Maybe they know something we don't, something we can use to find a way out of this.

I hope so too. I know it's asking for a lot of trust but...it's gotta be lonely for them, yeah? They have to carry all that weight on their own without telling anyone about it.

And the dead, they deserve closure too. "Sorry I killed you" doesn't fix anything, but they deserve something. An acknowledgement that we're thinking of them, and we want to do right by them.

...maybe we should do something for them all, next week.

Like...a memorial? The church I grew up in had a bunch of candles that people would light for the dead.

Well...they want food, so what if we show we care by making them all their favorite foods?

That's a fine idea. Do you know their favourite foods? I know that Rex likes ice cream, but that is not so easy to get in this world.

Yukio likes sashimi the most.

[Of course he knows his brother's favorite food.]

Tsuru likes some kind of green mochi but I'm still trying to figure out the flavor. I think it might be something regional but I don't know what region of Japan he's from. As for ice cream...maybe we can ask the Watchers for astronaut ice cream or something, that should make it to them just fine.

Green mochi? I should think either matcha or yomogi.

I'm not familiar with astronaut ice cream.

It wasn't matcha, I asked about that flavor already. Yomogi is possible though.

[He'll think on it, because he doesn't want to make the wrong one.]

Oh, but astronaut ice cream is like...they take ice cream and suck out all the moisture, so it's this dry brick of all the solids left behind. It's kind of like eating really dry tofu chips with ice cream flavoring? The point is, it won't melt because it doesn't have to be kept cold.

Ah, how lovely! Yes, perhaps we can get some of that. I will try to think on what we might make for Sheba and Yelena.

Yeah. And Nanaly...crud, can one of us ask her before tomorrow?

The rest of them I don't know well enough to know what they like, we might have to get a Watcher to help with them.

[No sending people for Qi Ring to eat though.]

I'll ask her. For the rest - it might be wise to prepare a few different dishes for a range of tastes. After all, we don't know what the situation will be next week in terms of food available. I bought a number of non-perishable ingredients in Ankheen, so there is some we can do, but there's no way easily to store food like milk and fruit so it won't spoil.

You know, it never occurred to me. We could simply ask the Watchers for a magical ice box.

I also have a feather that can create any meal. I've been saving it in case we run into a situation where starvation is a possibility, but I think we've all prepared against that by now.

A magical ice box...that's perfect! We just fill it up with all these different foods and send it off to them, and everyone will find something they like. Especially if we're all making stuff.

[They can get the French people to give recipes Marius would like, and...is there anyone who knows Russian cooking???]
