...Dad's not my birth dad. He knew Mom, and he loved her, but things never worked out for them. Instead, when mom got pregnant by a demon, he stayed by her side and took care of her until me and Yukio were born. And when she died, he adopted us.
But you know...blood ain't everything. Dad was an awesome dad, and I've met so many people who are just like dads and big brothers that aren't related to me at all. They're way better than any of the 'demon' side of my family.
[ his eyes kind of go wide at the getting pregnant by a demon part, because yikes, he never really thought that hard about exactly what the half-demon thing meant... and then hearing that she died on top of that is just... oof. he wonders if rin ever feels like that's his fault. ]

It's alright. It all happened when I was a baby, I don't remember any of it.

Dad really was great. There isn't anyone who could live up to him, I think. Though I think if I'd known Sholmes for longer than I did he might've come close, he's a lot like Dad.
