[Hey Flat! Rin is looking a bit shaken up after that horrific execution and is going around the city looking for other signs of those spectres he could barely see.

Will Flat be nice and announce his presence, or will he scare the shit out of Rin?]

as soon as flat sees rin, he’ll raise his voice to make his presence known. ]

[Rin does jump a little, but it's not as bad as it would have been if Flat had just jumped out at him.]

What do you think is wrong? Those spectres could still be around you know!

Oh, the spectres?

[ hmmm that would be something to worry about. ]

They were pretty scary...but maybe if we run really fast they won't catch up to us? Though I don't see any around right now...

Could you even see them to begin with? I barely saw them.

They were kind of hazy, but I saw them well enough. Kind of like if they were at 80 percent opacity.

[ ... ]

I wonder if it has to do with our ages. You're 16, right?

[aono]

Yeah, I'm 16. And what I saw was like...movements? I couldn't make out any details besides "something's there".

I’m 19. So… the younger we are, the less we’ll see them, I guess? I wonder if Rika saw anything at all…

[ that’s interesting. part of him wishes he could make some sort of experiment with this, but apparently they have other fish to fry or whatever. ]

[The rest can be answered in a moment but this is the most important thing right now.]

Did you think I was older?!

I thought you were, like, my age.

I was your age three years ago!

[ after flat has had some time to cool his head, he'll approach the place where they're holding rin.

unlike his usual self, his expression is practically unreadable. jack, as a wolf, trots beside him. ]

Hey. You okay?

[He saw the way Flat ran off suddenly. Given the number of cryptids here, Rin wouldn't be surprised if Flat is living something similar to what Rin is.]

[escardos]

[ he shakes his head. whether that's him answering that he's not okay or him telling rin to stop pursuing the question, it's unsure. ]

Is there any way we can help protect your brother?

[aono]

[Ah. Yukio.

Rin seems to slump down a little in his place.]

Just...stay with him? When he's upset he'll smile and say everything's fine and then close in on himself and cry in private. He needs a friend here, more than anything.

[escardos]

There's... probably better people than me for that.

[ he closes his eyes. ]

But I'll do my best. We're roommates right now.

Is this the first time you lost control like that?

Make sure he sleeps too, he'll go days without sleep if someone doesn't force him to sleep.

He...he likes mineral water, if you can find any. And when I cook anything for him, I make it a little less spicy than normal, because he doesn't like the spice that much. He drinks coffee but it's more to stay awake than because he likes it, so be sure to add plenty of sugar to it. And for dinner-

[ flat won't judge rin or make fun of him...but he can't really comfort him that much. he's just not good at it.

so he waits for him to cry as much as he wants, sitting down on the ground as he watches listlessly. ]

[It doesn't last long. Emotions come and go quickly for Rin, and soon he's slapping his own cheeks.]

Aaaaaah! No more sad thoughts!

[ flat chuckles a bit. ]

That's right. You'll still be able to see us, after all. And, from what Nero, Xie Lian, and I have seen, you'll still find a way to contact your brother. We'll do our best to keep him here in the living with us, but you won't be alone.

[aono]

Yeah, I wasn't worried about that part too much. I think Tsuru still wants to talk to me, even if I did murder him.

[He hopes so. He REALLY needs to apologize for the whole 'my other, more temperamental side killed you' thing.]

I think he'll get it, as long as you apologize! He told me once... that humans are capable of great kindness and cruelty, so... I don't think he'll hold it against you.

They are, are they? Well, I'll have to swing to the side of kindness for a long, long time now.
