Week 0: Saturday

[Nero's poking around in the hotel kitchen. Opening up the fridge, checking the stock- it almost looks like he works there.

A leopard cat sits next to him as he goes through all the ingredients.]

[Time for a battle of the chefs!

Ish. Rin is looking kind of sleepy as he walks in, yawning and rubbing at his eye. A cat follows after him too and chirps curiously at the leopard.]

'sthere anything good?

Haven't seen any Mandragora Roots yet, but there's eggs and some meats to work with.

Some vegetables I ain't seen before. [He pulls out a completely normal looking red pepper.

The leopard cat gives a little nod, but otherwise doesn't seem inclined to get up.]

That's just a pepper. Even if it's red instead of green it tastes the same.

[He yawns and then stretches. At the same moment, Rinkou stretches and yawns too.]

[He squints at the pepper. And then at Rin.]

Pepper?

[With the tone of "what the fuck is that"?]

[aono]

[He's just. Going to step over and hold out his hand.]

Here, I'll show you what to do with it.

[He hands it over and steps out of the way.]

We don't have these back home.

That's fine, not everything grows everywhere. It's fun to learn about new foods anyway.

[He's not going to do anything too fancy, just wash it, cut it in half, de-seed one of the halves, and then cut that half into strips. Then he offers a strip of pepper out for Nero to take.]

You can eat 'em raw like this, or chop 'em up to add to recipes to give some flavor.

[He'll give it a try... Not bad!]

This would work well in somethin' like an omelet.

Yeah, that's one way to cook 'em! And they're pretty good in stuff like stir fry. They come in other colors too, like green and yellow and orange.

Huh. Do the colors affect the taste? That happens with lemons and gallon melons.

[aono]

Some people say they do, but I never noticed a difference.

[He's going to start chopping the pepper into small bits. Might as well make some eggs and peppers.]

[He watches him go at it.]

[He is creating food art. No really, look at the shit he can make. It's practically food porn.

...well. Less so here, he has fewer ingredients. But it smells good at least?]

[A long whistle!]

Look at ya go. Lookin' good.

It's nothing, really. I don't mind cooking.

[The big grin on his face says that he likes the praise though. And soon enough, Rin is pushing a plate of eggs and peppers towards Nero.]

[Haha, he fights the urge to ruffle the kid's hair.]

So you're a chef too? Good to know there's more than one.

[he's grinning sheepishly.]

I'm not sure I'd call myself a chef yet, but that's a nice thought for the future.

Haha, well thanks. I get the feeling I'll have to get creative while we're here, there's so many different ingredients I'm not used to here.

Week 1, Tuesday

[Rin has acquired a feesh. Don't ask him how, it is a mystery.

But he is staring at it. He stares for a long time at this fish that is laying on a cutting board in a kitchen.

And then he glances down to his sword, which is laying on the counter nearby.

...considering...

Help him, Nero.]

... Are you seriously considerin' usin' a whole sword for a fish?

[No kitchen crimes in front of the kitchen boss.]

Well it's not like I have a knife! They keep getting stolen!

[perfectdistance]

You know, Miss Susato said she'd share.

[Nero also pulls out the knife from his apron pocket. Rin can borrow this one.]

Oh, guess I should ask her then.

[The sword will go unused, for now.]

I'm gonna need a lot more fish to keep everyone fed though. This is getting harder to do.

Might be able to hunt down those weird critters runnin' around the place?

[aono]

I guess I could, but are they safe to eat?

You only know if ya try.

The mushrooms are fine.

How did you find that out? You didn't eat them without knowing, right?

[Nero's not that reckless.]

W5: Thursday

[perfectdistance]

[Nero and Disce are hanging out in the ice hotel. They both seem pretty happy in the cold.

Disce's taken to her mole form, just because it's easier to ride around on his shoulders than walk on the ice.]

[aono]

[A valid choice. Rinkou is being stubborn in her wolverine form and Rin is cursing while carrying her around.]

Just wear boots, come on! You crabby little sh- oh hey! Nero!

[The last bit is said as he looks up and sees Nero.]

[Damn, that's a strong boy.

His shoulders are visibly shaking, trying not to laugh at Rin.]

Hey. What's up?

[He's trying his best and waddling down the hall to Nero.]

I got a letter! From Tsuru!

[perfectdistance]

Yeah? What did he say?

[aono]

There was a part for you, it said "Tell Nero I'll try writing soon. We don't get many chances to write. Until then, I'll continue watching."

There was also stuff about them needing us to write them letters.

Oh... Thanks for lettin' me know.

I think the dead only have the three letters each, 'n with the 300 character limit, it's kinda hard to send everything they wanna.
