Rin is quick to turn around once his punch goes wide, not wanting to keep his back exposed. His arms are up in a defensive position too, as he expects Xie Lian to follow up his dodge with a punch of his own. Rin's much more used to dirty fighting like that. But nothing comes, and then he sees that Xie Lian looks ready to defend again rather than attack. He also sees just how much fun Xie Lian is having too, and the joy is mirrored in Rin's face as well. Dumb punchy boys love to fite.
It's going to be a challenge, but Rin should have expected that. He doesn't hold a candle to a martial god, not even when they've both lost their supernatural powers. There's only so much experience you can have in 16 years, after all. But this is just for fun, and Rin doesn't mind losing if he has fun along the way.
He does want to draw Xie Lian out and see just how strong he is, though. Which is why he goes in like he's about to punch with his right fist, but with the last step before getting close he shifts his weight and goes in with his left fist instead, trying to catch Xie Lian unaware of the change.]

[ this genuine exclamation comes with the fake out - xie lian ducks the right, right arm coming up to block the left punch, and he's delighted with the skill of the move, because it does take more exertion for him to dodge it. unexpected! clever. rin reminds him of someone, just for a second, a fighty, scrawny soldier he once met on the battlefield.
he seems to take the hint of attacking, though, and this time, retaliates with a counter. light on his feet, xie lian will take the brief moment of opening offered to aim an upwards punch from his left arm, pulling the strength so he doesn't like, cave rin's face in - this isn't a real fight, after all - but still aiming to make a good sparring contact.
fun, this is very fun. he loves this kind of stuff, just lives for it. ]

Not that Rin would have been hit in the face anyway. As soon as his punch is dodged, he ducks down under Xie Lian's arm, tucking into a roll off to the left side, and he springs out of it ready to grab at whatever part of Xie Lian he can.
Is he going for a suplex? If he can get his arms around Xie Lian's waist he will be, yes.]
