Rin is quick to turn around once his punch goes wide, not wanting to keep his back exposed. His arms are up in a defensive position too, as he expects Xie Lian to follow up his dodge with a punch of his own. Rin's much more used to dirty fighting like that. But nothing comes, and then he sees that Xie Lian looks ready to defend again rather than attack. He also sees just how much fun Xie Lian is having too, and the joy is mirrored in Rin's face as well. Dumb punchy boys love to fite.
It's going to be a challenge, but Rin should have expected that. He doesn't hold a candle to a martial god, not even when they've both lost their supernatural powers. There's only so much experience you can have in 16 years, after all. But this is just for fun, and Rin doesn't mind losing if he has fun along the way.
He does want to draw Xie Lian out and see just how strong he is, though. Which is why he goes in like he's about to punch with his right fist, but with the last step before getting close he shifts his weight and goes in with his left fist instead, trying to catch Xie Lian unaware of the change.]
