... What's the connection even do, anyway?

Er...it's kind of hard to explain...but like, Rinkou's just a part of me. It's like having a piece of my soul hanging around outside my body and it's actually a wolverine. When our connection is there, I can feel her wherever she is. And she can't really talk, but I can tell she understands what people are saying to her.

It's definitely weird! But now that I've had her for a while, it feels weirder not being connected to her. I kinda wonder what Dad would think if he saw her, actually. He had a familiar so I think he would kind of get it, maybe.

Familiars aren't connected to you at all, they're demons you summon with magic. But they're separate beings.

But they still... listen to you?

[aono]

As long as you're nice to them, yeah. It's kinda like making friends.

With a demon you summoned.

With Kuro, he was already summoned by my dad. I just took over as his human contact after Dad died.

... So you've got the demon familiar and the ... daemon soul thing, now?

[aono]

Yup! And I'm half-demon on top of that.

... So I guess demons are pretty common where you're from.

Yeah, they got their own world and stuff. Gehenna. The human world is called Assiah, and that's where I live.

And the two connect through magic?

Something like that, yeah. I kinda wish Dad or Yukio were here, both of them could explain it way better than I can.

...actually that's probably enough for the gist of it then. I don't specialize in summoning familiars so I don't really know most of it. I use swords.

It's the easiest way for me. There's five ways to fight demons though. Like, Yukio uses guns, and Dad did too.

Guessing a third one is using demons against demons?

[aono]

Yeah. The fourth is using medicine to treat injuries from demons, and the fifth is using prayers to fight demons.

[skyagain]

... Prayers. Right.

I can't really do that one though, because I'll probably end up hurting myself too. Same for the medicine one.

[Hmm I wonder why it sounds familiar.]

... Right. Because it's anti-demon stuff, and you're part demon.
