The way they pop out of nothingness is kinda weird, yeah. And one of 'em got really mad if I asked if they were the same as the shadows.

Right. I'd say the staff has a lot in common with people like that.

I did ask one of them a while ago if they had contracts too, but they wouldn't answer me.

Yeah, there's no way they can answer that. [ dryly. ] But their boss only operates with those, so we can probably assume they have their own that's a lot stricter than ours.

I hope the final battle isn't tricking them into a contract. That seems risky.

[Rin would absolutely mess it up. He's hoping, if it comes to that, that someone else can do it right.]
